Dear Location Professionals:
Film Liaisons In California, Statewide (FLICS) presents the California On Location Awards as are way of saying Thank You - for keeping us in the loop each time you visit our area - for the professionalism, courtesy and respect you continue to demonstrate while filming on location. This partnership with us plays a vital role in our success of keeping our communities enthusiastic about location filming, ensuring that future film projects will be welcomed.

HOW THE FINALISTS ARE SELECTED

There are two different nomination methods; FLICS nominate location scouts, managers or production companies who have exemplified above and beyond levels of performance while filming on-location. And Industry professionals may also nominate individuals or companies that embody those levels of performance that bring the on-location experience to the level of art. Nomination categories include Features, Television, Commercials and Still Photography.

The nomination is a written description of unusual or difficult situations outlining how the challenge was met and solved by the location professional. Consideration is given to how well the location professional communicated with the film commission and cared for the community as well as the production company.

Nominations are submitted to the COLA committee for review and ballot preparation. The ballot listing all nominations is presented to the FLICS network for a vote, narrowing the nominees to three finalists in each category. The finalists are then presented to an industry panel of judges to determine the winner. The finalists and winners are recognized at the California On Location Awards event.

Additional awards for outstanding production companies and public agencies are also determined through the same nomination process.
