Gregory Alpert - Location Manager, Teamsters Local 399

Gregory H. Alpert has worked with some of the most influential directors of our time, including Robert Altman, Steven Soderbergh, Peter Bogdanovich, Ron Howard, Robert Zemeckis and Steven Spielberg. He has worked as both a Location Manager & Production Supervisor and has collaborated with each of these directors on several projects. As a location manager, he has traveled extensively throughout the country on shows that range from small independent films such as Robert Altman’s “Cookie’s Fortune” to Production Supervising the blockbuster hits, “Terminator 3” with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Steven Spielberg’s “War of the Worlds.”

His most recent credits include the Academy Award nominated Best Picture “Frost/Nixon” for which he won last year’s COLA Award, for Location Professional of the Year/Features, and the recently released Disney Studios feature film, “Surrogates” starring Bruce Willis.


Ed Duffy - Business Agent, Teamsters Local 399

Ed Duffy graduated from UCLA Film School. Worked for Chuck Fries Productions and EMI Television before becoming a Location Manager. He has been a Location Manager for 27 years working on such shows as Dynasty, Moonlighting, Melrose Place and most recently the OC.

He has been a trustee with Teamsters 399 for the past 5 years and has been the Business Agent for Teamsters Local 399 Location Managers for the past two years. Ed lives in Manhattan Beach with his wife Kathy and son Rob.


Claudia Eastman - Location Manager

Claudia Eastman has worked in Locations since 1989. A Bay Area native she was asked to replace the Location Manager on the TV MOW "New Memories." The production was based in Santa Cruz.

"I had no clue what a Location Manager did but the producer hired me on the spot. Definitely trial by fire. The director who also wrote the script would write new pages nightly. Each morning he'd drive by locations on his way to set and then insist he be able to shoot those same locations later in the day. To this day, I'm not certain how I pulled it off, nor why, after that experience, I choose to remain in the Locations field."

Her many credits include, "The Pretender," "Philly," "Numbers," and the original "Fast and Furious" as 2nd Unit Location Manager.

Claudia was the COLA TV Location Professional of the Year in 1998.


Bill McDonald - Producer / Writer

Bill McDonald is a producer/writer whose credits span films and TV series. He recently was nominated for a Golden Globe and a Writers Guild Award for writing the popular HBO series, “Rome.” He is co-creator of “Rome”—along with John Milius (writer of “Apocalypse Now” and director of films) and Bruno Heller (producer of “The Mentalist”). “Rome” is being called the most ambitious cable television series in history.

Bill is currently collaborating with Heller on a new action adventure TV series set in Roman history called “Colosseum.” And Bill is working on an international series bringing back “The Saint.” His partners in this venture are Geoffrey Moore, son of Sir Roger Moore who was the first television Saint, and Jorge Zamacona, producer of the TV show “Wanted.”

Among Bill’s many credits are the following: Producer, “The Saint” starring Val Kilmer; Producer, “One Man’s Hero” starring Tom Berenger; Producer, “Molly” starring Elizabeth Shue; Executive Producer, “Jade” starring David Caruso; Co-Producer, “Sliver” starring Sharon Stone. Bill’s film company also produced many films and TV shows, including “The Two Jakes” starring Jack Nicholson and “Gettysburg” starring Tom Berenger and Jeff Daniels. Bill was President/Partner in the Robert Evans Company at Paramount Pictures for five years.


David McKinney - Location Manager, Teamsters Local 399

David McKinney is a California On Location Award-winning Location Professional of the Year for 2008, a 20 year veteran commercial location scout and manager whose work experience includes commercial production management and art direction. Prior to his work in commercial production, David worked as an ad copywriter and in public relations. This combined experience has given him a deep understanding of the needs of production on location, and familiarity with the creative process of film making from concept to broadcast.

He grew up with filmmaking in his backyard, riding his bicycle to location shoots in his neighborhood, watching movies in his grandparents’ screening room in Pasadena, and visiting Universal Studios.

Among David’s credits are numerous TV commercials, many working with top talent such as David Mamet, Janusz Kaminsky, Nicole Kidman, Alejandro Amenábar, Guillermo Navarro, Charlize Theron, Meg Ryan, Cameron Crowe and Kermit the Frog.

He is a consultant to FilmLA (the Los Angeles Film Permit Office) a founding member of locolist, locationx, the Location Manager’s Guild of America, and serves on the Location Managers’ Steering Committee of the Hollywood Teamsters Local 399.

David is a native of Los Angeles, a world-class sailor and a graduate of the University of California Los Angeles, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in English Literature and Political Science with a minor in Spanish after earning letters as a champion rower, and lived in Spain as a foreign exchange student.


David Phelps - Director of External Relations, Association of Independent Commercial Producers

David Phelps currently serves as the Director of External Relations for the Association of Independent Commercial Producers, a national association that represents commercial production companies in various media - film, video & internet - for advertisers and agencies. As a lead advocate for its advocacy program, Phelps works with its 280 member production companies and hundreds of vendors and suppliers nationally to ensure a friendly filming environment in federal, state and municipal jurisdictions.

Previously, Phelps managed government relations for the Valley Industry & Commerce Association, where he was responsible for, among other things, the business association’s advocacy efforts.  He has served on the staff of several elected officials, including Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and California Assembly Speaker Robert Hertzberg.

In 2004, Phelps spearheaded efforts to forge a diverse coalition of businesses, labor unions, entertainment groups and neighborhood councils in calling for meaningful and comprehensive business tax reform. Later that year, Phelps was named a “40 under 40” Top Business Professional in the San Fernando Valley Business Journal for his role in that effort.


Richard Prince - Producer / Production Manager

Richard H. Prince is a successful Producer and Production Manager for feature films and television. His credits include: LICENSE TO WED, THE VISITING, SAW, DUKES OF HAZZARD, THE ANIMAL, THE REPLACEMENTS, RULES OF ENGAGEMENT, ANGELS IN THE OUTFIELD, ROCKETMAN, GONE FISHIN', RICHIE RICH, THE DISTINGUISHED GENTLEMAN, HOMEWARD BOUND: THE INCREDIBLE JOURNEY, ONLY THE LONELY, WHITE FANG, THE BEDROOM WINDOW, PERSONAL BEST and the D.G.A. award-winning television film, MURDER IN MISSISSIPPI. He worked as an Assistant Director on RISKY BUSINESS, UNCOMMON VALOR, MY BODYGUARD, THE STUNT MAN, and HEAVEN CAN WAIT. He is a graduate of the D.G.A. Trainee Program, and a member of the Producers Guild of America and the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

Richard graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Film/Television Production, and a Masters in Business Administration from UCLA.


Nina Ruscio - Production Designer

NINA RUSCIO went from art directing art house features with directors like Alan Rudolph and Nicolas Roeg, to designing television series and HBO movies "Normal,"  "If These Walls Could Talk II," "Big Shots," and "Nash Bridges," then back to art directing studio features "Spy Game, " "Volcano," and "Enemy Of The State." Today she production designs studio and independent features including "Three Stories About Joan," "Cheaper By The Dozen," "Are We Done Yet?," "Big Fat Liar," "Breakfast Of Champions," and "Just Married."
