On behalf of the Film Liaisons In California, Statewide (FLICS), we proudly present the California On Location Awards™ (COLAs) as our way of saying “Thank You” for professionalism while filming throughout our State. 

 

Your partnership plays a vital role in the success of our 41 Film Offices which make up the FLICS. Together, we keep our communities enthusiastic about location filming, ensuring that future film projects will be welcomed throughout the Golden State.

Nomination Process
 

The nominations are open for Location Managers or Location Teams who have done exemplary work while filming on location in the last year. Each year, COLA bestows awards on both individuals and location teams.

 

Eligibility for submitting a nomination is as follows:  you must be a FLICS Member or an Entertainment Industry Professional, such a Location Manager or Scout, a Producer, or Director.

  

Individual professionals may be nominated for Location Manager of the Year - Studio or Independent Feature, Television Episodic, Reality Television, Commercial, Music Video or Still Photography.

 

Government employees at the City, County, State and Federal level may be nominated for Public Employee of the Year.

 

Team nominations are also accepted for Location Team of the Year - Studio or Independent Feature, and Television Episodic. 

  • Nominee(s) must have worked with a California production between July 1, 2017 and June 30, 2018.
  • A nominator may submit multiple nominations for multiple nominees, but only one nomination per nominee and only one nomination per form.
  • Entries will be reviewed as they are received and qualified by COLA organizers.
  • Shared nominations are acceptable for team awards only.
  • COLA organizers may eliminate awards categories for which fewer than 3 qualifying nominations are received. 
  • Entries must be received on or before midnight PST on August 13, 2018 to receive consideration.
  • Incomplete or late nomination forms will be rejected.
  • No extensions will be given for the purposes of amending an incomplete or rejected nomination.

Location Manager of the Year, Studio Feature

Presented annually to an outstanding Location Manager in recognition of their contributions to a Studio Feature Film that filmed on location in the State of California. In general, the award for Location Manager of the Year: Studio Feature, seeks to recognize an individual that excels at their job, making the best of difficult situations, fostering good-will with the public and adhering to good business practices.

 

Location Manager of the Year, Independent Feature

Presented annually to an outstanding Location Manager in recognition of their contributions to an Independent Feature Film or two hour television Feature Presentation that filmed on location in the State of California. In general, the award for Location Manager of the Year: Independent Feature, seeks to recognize an individual that excels at their job, making the best of difficult situations, fostering good-will with the public and adhering to good business practices.

 

Location Manager of the Year, Episodic TV, One Hour

Presented annually to an outstanding Location Manager in recognition of their contributions to a season of television programing that filmed on location in the State of California. When nominating in this category you should take into consideration the whole of the individual's work on a season, but you may focus on a single episode in order to emphasize your nomination. In general, the award for Location Manager of the Year: Episodic TV, one hour, seeks to recognize an individual that excels at their job, making the best of difficult situations, fostering good-will with the public and adhering to good business practices.

 

Location Manager of the Year, Episodic TV, Half Hour

Presented annually to an outstanding Location Manager in recognition of their contributions to a season of television programing that filmed on location in the State of California. When nominating in this category you should take into consideration the whole of the individual's work on a season, but you may focus on a single episode in order to emphasize your nomination. In general, the award for Location Manager of the Year: Episodic TV, half hour, seeks to recognize an individual that excels at their job, making the best of difficult situations, fostering good-will with the public and adhering to good business practices.

 

Location Manager of the Year, Reality Television

Presented annually to an outstanding Location Manager in recognition of their contributions to a Reality Television Program (half or one hour) that filmed on location in the State of California. In general, the award for Location Manager of the Year: Reality TV, seeks to recognize an individual that excels at their job, making the best of difficult situations, fostering good-will with the public and adhering to good business practices.

 

Location Manager of the Year, Commercial

Presented annually to an outstanding Location Manager in recognition of their contributions to a commercial production that filmed on location in the State of California. In general, the award for Location Manager of the Year: Commercial, seeks to recognize an individual that excels at their job, making the best of difficult situations, fostering good-will with the public and adhering to good business practices.

 

Location Manager of the Year, Still Photography

Presented annually to an outstanding Location Manager in recognition of their contributions to a stills production that shot on location in the State of California. In general, the award for Location Manager of the Year: Stills, seeks to recognize an individual that excels at their job, making the best of difficult situations, fostering good-will with the public and adhering to good business practices.

 

Public Employee of the Year, City

Presented annually to an outstanding City Public Employee in recognition of their outstanding contributions to make filming happen in their jurisdiction. In general, the award for Public Employee of the Year, City Level, seeks to recognize an individual or team that excels at their job, going above and beyond expectations, making the best of difficult situations, fostering good-will between the public and production teams, while adhering to good business practices.

 

Public Employee of the Year, County

Presented annually to an outstanding County Public Employee in recognition of their outstanding contributions to make filming happen in their jurisdiction. In general, the award for Public Employee of the Year, County, seeks to recognize an individual or team that excels at their job, going above and beyond expectations, making the best of difficult situations, fostering good-will between the public and production teams, while adhering to good business practices.

 

Public Employee of the Year, State

Presented annually to an outstanding State Public Employee in recognition of their outstanding contributions to make filming happen in their jurisdiction. In general, the award for Public Employee of the Year, State, seeks to recognize an individual or team that excels at their job, going above and beyond expectations, making the best of difficult situations, fostering good-will between the public and production teams, while adhering to good business practices.

 

Public Employee of the Year, Federal

Presented annually to an outstanding Federal Public Employee in recognition of their outstanding contributions to make filming happen in their California jurisdiction. In general, the award for Public Employee of the Year, Federal, seeks to recognize an individual or team that excels at their job, going above and beyond expectations, making the best of difficult situations, fostering good-will between the public and production teams, while adhering to good business practices.

 

Location Team of the Year, Studio Feature

Presented annually to an outstanding Location Team in recognition of their contributions to a Studio Feature Film that filmed on location in the State of California. Presented annually to an outstanding Assistant Location Manager in recognition of their contributions to a Studio Feature Film that filmed on location in the State of California. In general, the award for Assistant Location Manager of the Year: Studio Feature, seeks to recognize an individual that excels at their job, making the best of difficult situations, fostering good-will with the public and adhering to good business practices. Presented annually to an outstanding Assistant Location Manager in recognition of their contributions to a season of television programing that filmed on location in the State of California. When nominating in this category you should take into consideration the whole of the individual's work on a season, but you may focus on a single episode in order to emphasize your nomination.
